For the past several years me and my daughter have gone on a cruise during spring break. This will be the first year that we're not going.
She is turning 15 soon and wants to go to the beach here at home and be with her friends. I can't say that I blame her; our beaches are the best and the weather is so beautiful now.
Still... I need a vacation!
I want to take a break. If I stay here, they'll know where to get me... and I'll end up working. I like it when I'm on a ship! I usually tell everyone that I am in the middle of the ocean, so there will be no communication. Yes, I know, they have e-mail and Internet on the ship and I can even text and use the phone if I am willing to pay $$$ per minute...

I still want to take a vacation. Perhaps we can just go by car 4-8 hours away. I thought about taking my daughter and her girlfriends to Washington DC. They want to see the Holocaust museum. I love seeing all the art there and the Museum of Natural History.
Maybe I'll take a cruise in May. There is a nice ship leaving from Charleston. There is something so wonderful about being in the middle of the ocean. I always take a balcony room and sleep with my window open. The negative ions in the middle of the ocean are so nurturing. I am always so refreshed after a cruise. I spend all my time outdoors. They have jogging trails, pools, tennis courts, ice skating rink, basketball courts, miniature golf, rock climbing. One of the boats I've been on, Navigator of the Seas, even had a rollerblading track (yes, I did bring my Rollerblades and went around the track many times...)

Last spring we took Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas. It was a beautiful ship, but smaller than my absolute favorite - Navigator of the Seas. If you ever take Navigator, be sure to check out the Salsa Nightclub. It's so full of life and the live band is so amazing. All the Latinos converge there and the salsa dancing reigns supreme. I fell in love with salsa dancing on Navigator of the Seas. I can shake with the best of them...
I really should have booked that cruise....

Mirela - I hope that where ever you go and when ever you go there, the time you spend on vacation is all you wnat it to be. Debbie is right, your family pictures are wonderful.
PS - the Holocaust museum is on my 'to go to' list, too.
Thank you Debbie! Thank you Nancy!
The weather here in Myrtle Beach is so beautiful right now, I might just rent an oceanfront condo and just "vegge" on the beach.
The wonderful thing about me and travel is that I am spontaneous. I might be in Europe tomorrow; you just never know with me. I get the "bug" and then I go. No great plans, just "full adventure ahead"! My kids hate it. They are so structured and like to plan EVERYTHING. How does that happen? Bohemian mom raises two extraordinarily structured kids who love RULES?!? Go figure.... They always swing way on the other side of the parent...
Mirela...I love the photo of your daughter leaning over the railing. That is one to treasure.
We've had such a mild winter that here we are almost at the end of March and I never had the need to get away someplace warm. I usually do although I went to Antarctica a couple of years ago in January.
The one spot I may be tempted to go is Bermuda. I haven't been there yet, it's not too far, and I've thought about it off and on for years. This spring may be the perfect time.
The oceanfront condo sounds like a perfect solution for you. Leave the cell phone home and don't take your laptop. You can always call the office if you want to.
Have fun and soak in the sunshine.
Kathleen
P.S. Like you, we get a room with a balcony and leave the doors wide open. There's nothing like falling asleep to the sounds of the waves as the ship moves through the water.
Right you are Barbara-Jo! She already is not too excited about going...
The trip through Europe I took with my son about three years ago, when he was 21 was the BEST! We had such a great time together. I will blog about that in the future.
Hello Mirela-
My daughter is 12 today! She is a traveler. I will take that girl anywhere. Never whines or complains,a real trooper! In fact I have a story about her in an airport that I will share here sometime. Anyhow, I was hoping with my last closing I would book a 7 day Mexican cruise as I have been studing Spanish for over a year. Well some other things came up (new transmission in my vehicle, ect.) So our trip has been postponed. But we will get away soon, and I will book that cruise!!
