AR JOKESTER: Celebrating Barbie

Next year Barbie is turning 50.  Yes, she's a Baby Boomer!  While her waist has increased in size over the years and her clothes have changed with the times, Barbie has endured about as many ups and downs as the rest of us.

Denounced as a symbol of decadence of the perverted West, with her revealing clothes and shameful postures, accessories and tools by Saudi Arabia's religious police, Barbie became an outlaw in that part of the World in 2003.   That same year, the BLO (Barbie Liberation Organization) modified Barbie dolls by giving them the voice box of a talking GI Joe doll and secretly returned the dolls to the shelves of toy stores.  Parents and children were surprised when they purchased Barbie dolls that uttered phrases such as "Eat lead, Cobra!" and "Vengeance is mine", while the GI Joe's uttered phrases like "Let's go shopping!" and "Will we ever have enough clothes?"

With the Real Estate Market and the Stock Market in the toilet, I thought we might focus our attention on this American Icon.   Here are the latest versions of Barbie:

REDNECK BARBIE

Please join in the celebration by submitting your versions of Barbie!   You have to check out Scott Owens' The Ken to Her Barbie Blog, also on the Optimist Board

It all started with the Divorce Barbie Blog...

Have fun!  Life's short.  Live Well!

Man in Toys-R-Us to Saleswoman:  Does Barbie come with Ken?
Saleswoman:  No, Barbie comes with G.I. Joe.  She fakes it with Ken.

I'm seraching everwhere...some one sent me a picture of a Jersey Shore Barbie, an Italian American model with big hair and questionable taste in clothing!  Thanks for the laugh!

Scott:  That is too funny (the above joke).  Great quickie joke.  I need more of those.

Hey you heard Barbie divorced Ken and she got the everything including his: Whcih she proudly displays on her keychain!

Posted by Nancy Larson (American Dream Referrals) over 3 years ago

Nancy:  Ouch!  That hurts!  It's even sadder when they're not even divorced and she walks around with that keychain...

So what would REALTOR barbie look like? Cell phone in one hand, laptop in the other? Or Lockbox in the one hand, cell phone in the other? Heels to kill? Driving a lexus or what? In my case she's in heels and a black Hummer H3! Black suit, cell phone glued to her hand.

Erica - I am guessing she would look something like:

Mirela - I found one in my Barbie archive (please don't ask) that I have not seen here yet...

Posted by Scott Owens - REALTOR® (Prudential Property Specialists) over 3 years ago

Scott:  Is that the "Party Barbie", or is it the "Eating Disorder Barbie"?

Posted by Mirela Monte, Your Myrtle Beach Real Estate Connection over 3 years ago

Neither - It's the "Morning Sickness" Barbie - now we just have to figure out if the baby belongs to "Biker" Ken or "Mid-Life Crisis" Ken...somebody call Maury.

Posted by Scott Owens - REALTOR® (Prudential Property Specialists) over 3 years ago

Scott--you have a Barbie archive????

I'm worried.

Posted by Erica Ramus - Ramus Realty Group - Pottsville, PA over 3 years ago

Erica:

I wouldn't have had one, except I had to do, um, "research" for my KEN blog...so it's Mirela's fault.  Yeah, that's it, that's my story...and I'm sticking with it!

Sick, just plain sick. I love it!

I guess some days are so bad, you have to MAKE your own humor, eh?

Posted by Erica Ramus - Ramus Realty Group - Pottsville, PA over 3 years ago

Mirela!!!!!!!   I just stopped in to thank you for the advice on making the "Brother" blog to this one public.  I just got a referral from the "Ken" blog...

Somebody called my office and asked for "the guy who wrote the Ken Doll blog".  Not knowing what this person was talking about, Reception put them through to the duty desk.  The duty agent listened to the caller describe the blog, and was intrigued by their description so much that she searched for my blog in order to find out who the "mystery agent" was.

I was greeted at the office yesterday with a declaration that I was "one sick puppy", and that, after writing an article like that, I deserved to keep the client...I'll take both as compliments.

Scott:  Thank you for letting me know!  This is only the beginning; you will garner more leads from it in the future.

I loved this:

I was greeted at the office yesterday with a declaration that I was "one sick puppy", and that, after writing an article like that, I deserved to keep the client...I'll take both as compliments.

...Sick puppies who buy and sell a lot of Real Estate...

From one sick puppy to another:  I'm proud of you!

BTW:  Do you have any new contributions to the AR Jokester - Political blog?  I just posted a new picture on there (in the comments section).

Posted by Mirela Monte, Your Myrtle Beach Real Estate Connection over 3 years ago

Thanks Mirela.  I will add a few more pictures to the Political Humour blog - I think I may have collected 10 or 15 more since my last adddition.
